HOW TO USE THIS BIBLIOGRAPHY

​

Research in the field of African American Children's Literature currently focuses on four main themes:

  • History and criticism of the "All-White World of Children's Literature" prior to the middle/late 20th Century;

  • African American literature for children, written by and for African Americans beginning in the late 19th Century;

  • Recommended reading lists and criteria for selection, and

  • Resources for teaching African American Children's Literature, including web guides.
